It can be so hard to feel unclear. How to achieve complete inner clarity for decision-making can seem like a daunting task.
As humans, we tend to feel uncomfortable with things unknown. On the one hand, we want to feel clear. On the other hand, we can struggle to trust ourselves to make the best decisions for us. We can sometimes hide in a state of “I don’t know” because we’re scared, feel anxious, or deep down we DO know but we don’t trust ourselves enough.
Unless we’re active in an awareness practice, we can get lost in the need to make decisions.
The process is simpler than many of us make it out to be.
Inner clarity is something we all possess innately as humans. It’s our given gifts. There’s no uncertainty there.
That innate capacity to know what’s in our best interest, our own deep wisdom, can be muddled by external forces if we’re not conscious. Other people’s opinions, societal pressures, family and cultural beliefs, outside expectations, and fear-based programming can really muddy the waters.
The good new is it’s just a process of stripping everything that isn’t actually coming from your deep inner state of knowing. And here are some ways to do just that:
Get to know who you really are:
- Lack of clarity often comes from self-doubt. Self-doubt can only exist when you’re disconnected from your own worth and trust in your capability. Take a moment to pause. Slow down. Check in with yourself. Get familiar and friendly with your fears. Awareness of your thoughts and feelings is THE critical starting point. It’s where you can then start to untangle. Who are you in relationship to this decision?
Experiment:
- Take risks, get out there, see what fits and what doesn’t. Get really curious in your exploration. Process of elimination may help so long as you’re open to the learning.
Meditate:
- Connect to stillness. It is in this space that you can quiet all of the voices that are not your own, and tap into your inner knowing, AKA your wisdom. We all have it and silence can give us the chance to be with it. It also helps us notice the fears, judgments, and pressures that live in our cognitions. When we notice and label those thoughts for what they, we give space. They’re less cumbersome.
- Meditation also helps strengthen our sense of intuition, which can serve as a compass towards clarity when we have a decision to make. This is empowerment embodied.
Stay diligent:
- Don’t give up on yourself. It can sometimes feel easier to let someone else decide for you or to avoid the decision altogether. This isn’t effective or fruitful. Ask yourself, what’s most helpful here? What do I need from myself to trust my decision? How can I continue to give this my attention and focus. And, remember, life is meant to be enjoyed. Stay diligent but also aware that there will always be a path of least resistance. Trust yourself to take that route.
Seek mentorship and guidance:
- You can’t do it alone. None of us can. We’re not meant to. It’s true that inner clarity is achieved within, a turning towards ourselves and our inner worlds. Simultaneously, we deepen that connection to self through learning from those who have already done it and can offer us the guidance to help support our own process. So, find your teachers, build your tribe. Stay open to growth and consider yourself a life-long learner.
Complete inner clarity is a state so buoyant and joyful; one born of love, trust, and confidence in self. It’s where spirit lives. Tuning into yourself with the above-mentioned tasks can help you feel entirely clear when have a big (or small) decision to make that feels hard!
