The dominant rhetoric in mainstream consciousness is the importance of self-care, and I’m heartened to see it become an everpresent recognition. We also should be just as considerately imploring ourselves and each other to prioritize soul-care so that we can fully embody our spiritual selves, and live aligned with the majesty of our divinity. Our souls are the inhabitants of our bodies; the journey we take as humans. Spirituality is our unwavering light, the highest source of love and truth. The more we care with tenderness to our souls, the more we allow for spiritual embodiment.
Daily ritual can help.
Whether it’s meditating at your altar, visioning reassurance to your ancestors, offering gifts to the beloved earth, or staying connected to the questions “Am I aware? What am I aware of?” throughout the day, daily ritual is a powerful way to tend to soul-care, and can elicit an embodied sense of the spiritual.
Prioritize time each day that’s set aside for ritual, even if only 10 minutes at the start of each day, or 30 minutes before heading to bed to receive the night. Consider what your unique soul needs at this time in its evolution, and offer it generously the nourishment that will allow for its full embodiment and expression.
Use your creativity to guide the practices. What matters most is that it resonates with your soul’s deepest needs and it feeds your heart in a way that leaves you feeling soft, awakened, held and supported.
Some ideas:
Meditation:
Find a type that works for you. Experiment. The main point is that you commit to its practice with daily devotion. Find some of my favorite essentials to enhance the meditative experience here.
Write:
Whether it’s intentions, poetry, journaling your thoughts, or creating music. Expressing yourself through a writing ritual can elicit divine embodiment: soul-care that nourishes.
Sing, chant, dance:
Tap into soul expression through the art of voice, movement, and creation. Singing, chanting, and dancing are powerful activities that can give full connection to your feminine energy, open yourself fully, and clear any blocks muddying up the light.
Use oracle or tarot cards:
Use tarot and oracle cards to connect. I love the Moon Deck and Elena Brower’s Practice You deck. I also LOVE Alana Fairchild’s Sacred Rebels Oracle app. This can help you open space for soul-based connection and guidance.
Prepare your meals mindfully:
Connect to that which feeds you with reverence and conscious awareness. Feel into the food as you prepare it. Smell it, be mindful of its texture, offer gratitude to the earth for its creation and the ways in which we sustain each other. Bring to mind all of the people who contributed to getting the food to your home and into your body.
Move the body:
Each day give time for intentional movement of body. Whether it’s at the gym, yoga, or simple stretches at home first thing in the morning. Remind your body that it’s loved, valued, and deeply precious.
